It’s no secret that Erdogan wants to be the Sultan of a revived Ottoman Empire.
His latest move to use the Hagia Sofia as a mosque after being a museum for many years is just one of many attempts to promote himself as the leader of Sunni muslims in the Middle East.
In doing so he is making an already burning fire bigger within the muslim world to be more bold and daring against the EU and against Israel.
He has sent troops to Syria, he is sending troops to lawless Libya. We can obviously see that Erdogan is building a new (little) empire one step at a time.
