The death toll from a week of severe flooding in Parwan, Afghanistan, has reached at least 190 on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Scores of people were injured, about 4 000 houses were damaged or destroyed, and many others are still missing, leaving the victims’ families devastated. The floods started last Tuesday, August 25, after heavy rains struck northern Parwan Province, affecting the city of Charikar the most. Raging waters dislocated thousands of boulders that destroyed houses and buried people under the rubble.
