In Isaiah 17 we find this clear prophecy of Damascus:
“See, Damascus will no longer be a city
but will become a heap of ruins.
The cities of Aroer will be deserted
and left to flocks, which will lie down,
with no one to make them afraid.
3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,
and royal power from Damascus;
the remnant of Aram will be
like the glory of the Israelites,”
declares the Lord Almighty.
Since the beginning of the war in Syria in 2011 each day that passes, more and more buildings are destroyed in Damascus and it’s many suburbs.
The oldest inhabited city in the world is a war zone and many suburbs are uninhabitable. A new survey has ranked Damascus as the least livable city in the world, running with observers attributing the reason to the rampant sectarian militias and the ongoing crimes against civilians, especially daily detention of civilians.
Isaiah clearly predicts Damascus will seize to be a city, therefor we know the worst is yet to come. Bible teachers think a nuclear or chemical weapon will cause the city to be totally destroyed. A major earthquake is also one of the options.
